Ecoprinting – natural printing with character
The language of leaves – made visible.
The language of leaves – made visible.
Somewhere between art, craft, and natural wonder. Instead of using artificial colors, we use plants directly as a printing tool. Leaves, blossoms, pieces of bark—everything Thailand's tropical flora offers us—is printed directly onto fabric and leather. And the result? Each piece is truly unique, showcasing the beauty of nature as it is: wild, imperfect, and vibrant.
We work with natural fibers such as cotton, linen, silk—and yes, even real leather. Leather is a particularly exciting canvas: it absorbs plant dyes deeply and intensely—with earthy tones and fine textures.
Before printing begins, we pretreat the fabric and leather with natural mordants. These ensure that the plant-based dyes bond permanently with the material. We then place leaves, blossoms, or pieces of bark directly onto the fabric—each arrangement is created spontaneously and seasonally.
Then everything is rolled up tightly – usually around wood or metal – and tied securely. The steam dissolves the dyes from the plants and transfers them to the material.
Once the steaming process is complete, we unroll the material—as is customary in ecoprinting. This is when the magic begins : the leaf prints, the colors, the texture—still warm from the steam and full of life.
Our prints are created with respect for nature. The plants we use come from our garden or the surrounding area. Many fabrics are recycled – old jeans, fabric scraps, or worn-out clothing are given a new lease of life with Ecoprint.
This makes each piece truly unique – sustainable, handmade and full of nature.
Would you like to try the art of ecoprinting for yourself? Our workshops are the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in the natural dyeing technique and create your own unique works – under expert guidance and in a relaxed atmosphere.
